Distribution:
The species is widespread throughout Europe and European Russia;
the occurrence on the Iberian Peninsula is doubtful.
Habitat:
Limnephilus stigma lives in permanent or temporary sites,
including headwater floodplains, marshes, moors, pools and lakes
with dense emergent vegetation (Robert & Wichard 1994, Arscott
et al. 2003, Wallace et al. 2003). This species is also found in
brackish water (Botosaneanu & Malicky 1978).
Nutrition:
Larvae are shredders, scrapers and carnivorous (Graf et al. 2002).
Adults:
Adults
are on the wing from May to October (Waringer & Graf 1997).
