Distribution:
The distribution area of Molanna angustata is restricted
to the northern half of Europe, including the British Isles, the
northern part of West-, Central and East-Europe, the Baltic States,
Scandinavia and Russia1.
Habitat:
Aquatic
stages of Molanna angustata inhabit lakes and pools, slow-flowing
rivers and canals where they live on sand or fine gravel; larvae
avoid places with dense vegetation; the species can also be found
in brackish water (Eidel 1933, Botosaneanu & Malicky 1978, Robert
& Wichard 1994, Waringer & Graf 1997, Wallace et al. 2003).
Nutrition:
Larvae are detritivore and carnivore (Graf et al. 2002).
Adults:
Adults are on the wing from May to October (Waringer & Graf
1997).
