Distribution:
The species is distributed in Central and Southern Europe.
Habitat:
Rhyacophila intermedia lives near springs, in trickles,
headwater floodplains, rivulets and rarely in small rivers; it mainly
occurs in the Alps and is rarely found in uplands (Botosaneanu &
Malicky 1978, Pitsch 1993, Arscott et al. 2003).
Nutrition:
Larvae are carnivorous, feeding on small invertebrates (Waringer
& Graf 1997, Graf et al. 2002).
Adults:
Adults are on the wing from June to November (Waringer & Graf
1997).
